Welcome to our web site for James the Gordon Train. Here, you will find information about current book issues and future releases. The `James the Gordon Train’ Books are a series written for all children, but especially those who travel on the Alford Valley Railway line. Unlike some other train stories, our train is real, and the stories are based on fact. We hope that adults and children everywhere will enjoy reading together, these gentle stories set in the actual Donside village of Alford. Our aim is to encourage in young children, an early appreciation of their own environment and heritage, through the `James’ stories and, of course, by travelling on the train. Alford, itself, is located within the `Gordon’ area of Aberdeenshire, where there has been a Gordon presence for over 600 years. The people in Alford are equally proud of James Gordon, the man, James Gordon, the Train, and the Gordon area, and that is why these series of books are called the `James the Gordon Train’ books. Our first issue is called `Here Comes James’ and can be purchased from 1st December 2007 from this site; it will also be readily available over the `Santa Special’ weekends of 7/8/9 and 14/15/16 December.
